ETR: Tell us a little about you and your faith:

I am a mother, wife and artist, and a woman who loves the Lord! I include Him in all I do for I believe He is everything and everywhere. My family comes from a mixed lot of denominations, so I really do not hold on to one way of worship, but rather worship Him in every way I can, including through my art.

ETR: How old were you when you first started drawing and who inspired you?

Well, I'm not really sure how old I was when I first began to draw or paint. I think it's always been a part of my life. Both my father and my grandmother were wonderful artists and they provided the tools and creative surroundings to explore basically any medium. My grandmother, though, was my biggest inspiration. She taught me how to really see the beauty and magic that surrounds us everyday and how to honor the Creator of these things through our gifts and talents.

ETR: Do you believe that your artwork is a God given talent?

I do believe that my ability and talents have come from the Lord but only He knows where it will take me. :)

ETR: On your blog you state "just a female artist on a journey in God's world", how does God help you through that journey?

By giving me the inspiration, excitement, ability and perseverance that is needed to do the task He has set before me.

ETR: How hard is that journey and how would you encourage other artists to believe in themselves?

It can sometimes be a very difficult one. And often times it is for me. Self doubt and the harsh opinions of others can be very damaging to your goals and enthusiasm to keep going. Always remember what brought you to becoming an artist in the first place - the love for what you are doing, and to remember that your talents are a God given gift. He believes in you and you should, too!

ETR: What is your favorite scripture from the bible and why?

My favorite is :"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and don't lean on your own understanding. In all things acknowledge him, and he shall direct your way. [Proverbs 3:5, 6]" Because so often I take to heart others opinions of my work and what I should be doing with it.   And this scripture serves as a reminder that He has already set my path and He alone knows the plans for my future.

ETR: You integrate your faith into some of your artwork like "Goodness" and "Fruits of the Spirit", what else inspires you in your artwork?

Children are my biggest inspirations by far. Their innocence and their wonderful imaginations, their honesty and their wonderment over the slightest of things. Everything is amazing to them.

ETR: What message do you want children to get from your artwork?

I would like children and others to know that it IS possible for a Christian to be a fantasy artist. Many think that this is a contradiction. But the good Lord has given us an imagination and there is magic in everything He has done and created. I create my whimsical characters and scenes as a celebration of these gifts.

ETR: How did you come up with the idea of Mouser-kins©?

Well, actually, I am a bunny collector, but every rabbit I drew turned out looking like a mouse! LOL! And as for the name, I polled my friends with a possible list and this is the name that stuck.

ETR: Where else can we see your artwork appear?

I have work in several online galleries including Fantastic Portfolios, ArtWanted.com, Deviant Art, EBSQ and Alpha-Omega Digital. I also freelance to several online children's magazines.

ETR: Some of your artwork is available in cross stitch, where can we order these designs?

Thank you so much for asking! The wonderfully talented Tammy Bacon with Stab and Stash, www.stabandstash.com has charted several of my images. To date, 55 of my images are available with many more on the way.
