Live what you speak
by Cecelia Campbell

There is one thing I love to do even though I don't do it very well and that is to sing. I get so emotional when I allow the words to minister to my heart.
But one day I got a rude awakening when I started to analyze the words of a song I love so well. It reminds of a commercial I have seen, 'you are not as clean as you think'. The song that had me really thinking was 'I Surrender All'.
I realized I was living a lie. There I was singing with great gusto and enjoyment, making promises I had no real intention of keeping.
'I will ever love and trust Him, in His presence daily live' Honestly, if I trust Him so much, how is it that I am often worried about stuff. I know I should exercise faith and trust, but it doesn't stop me worrying about meeting my needs. Yet, I sing this song without a moment's hesitation.
I surrender all, do I really? Looking at my life, there are so many areas that are not under God's total control. I am still hungry for some of the things of this world. I have to be fighting daily to bring my thoughts under subjection to God and when these lips of mine should be occupied in ministry and spreading the good news of Jesus Christ, they are sometimes lured by juicy gossip and telling jokes that are not so wholesome.
It would be amazing if we all took the time to evaluate ourselves. We need to kick back and examine the things we are saying and if we are really living what we speak.

examine yourself

It's no use going around talking about how we are changed, how Christ has made a difference in our lives, when the ones we should be luring to God with our changed lives are not seeing it.
We speak the love of God, but we don't show our neighbor love. We don't even speak to them, we don't take the time to share a kind word.
We speak about God's grace and forgiving power yet we walk around with a chip on our shoulder, bearing grudges for those we think have done us wrong. Remember, Jesus on the cross took the time to ask for forgiveness for those who were openly mocking Him. What love!
If we serve a victorious God, then don't walk around defeated. You may be down now, but you are never out! You speak about a God of miracles, then act like you have one who can do just that.
Now when I sing the words of popular songs, I have to take the time to examine them, I have to be sure I really mean what I am professing to the world.
Your most effective witnessing comes in the life you live. Don't just speak it, live it!
