FLINT, MICHIGAN – Louella Jamerson’s Undiscovered Treasures uses Biblical scriptures to encourage singles to develop a paradigm shift when thinking about selecting a mate. According to Jamerson, many Christian singles miss out on an opportunity to find true love because they are locked into the notion that God is against interracial relationships. The author’s goal is to elevate the reader’s thinking beyond the barriers of color and culture lock. She desires to shift the reader’s thinking from skin color to character when looking for a mate.
Undiscovered Treasures; God’s Take On Multicultural Relationships is written for singles who haven’t given up on the reality of finding that someone that they want to be with for the rest of their life. “In order to do that, one must be free from mental and emotional bondage that comes from being culture locked.” says Jamerson. She wants Undiscovered Treasures to be used as a tool to remind the body of Christ of their responsibility to reject and dismantle the spirit of racism, prejudice and discrimination. She feels that when this is done, singles in the Kingdom of God will find that priceless treasure for their lives.
Jamerson is a resident of Genesee Township, Michigan. She is a member of Higher Dimensions Ministries in Flint, Michigan. Jamerson is currently holds a Certificate in Biblical Counseling through Light Learning Institute, is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and a former Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Caseworker, she is Founder and President of Undiscovered Treasures Ministries. Embracing the Rain's interview with Louella Jamerson

1. What do you feel is the greatest issue facing single adults today?

The greatest issue, I feel, facing singles today is how swiftly and dramatically the numbers are increasing. Some statistics say that by the end of 2007 there will, for the first time in history, be more singles than married persons. With that kind of predicted increase I think it tends to cause some feelings of hopelessness in many.

2. What advice do you give to single adults entering into the dating environment today?

Well, the first thing I would suggest is to pick up a copy of Undiscovered Treasures; God's Take On Multicultural Relationships because it is a sort of "cover-all manual" for today singles of all ages. If they were not able to do that I would say position yourself spiritually with God in a place where you live a happy and complete life each day of your life. That way you are not living your life on the edge, so to speak, of living to find someone and marry. Singleness is only one segment of a Christians life. Discovering and walking in your real life's purpose is the more important thing. As Jesus said that is "the good part." There are still people who need what God has placed inside of you and He's about reaching people and changing lives. Find your place in the Kingdom and God will add the rest.

3. Who is your greatest Christian inspiration today?

My greatest Christian inspiration is my Pastor and Mentor, Elder Sammie L. Hall, Sr. He not only is my Pastor but my friend and has helped to shape and point my life more than anyone into the place of prayer and complete surrender. His ability to teach strategies for victorious living on such a practical level has transformed my life.

4. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In ten years? Wow, that is something to ponder. In ten years I see myself as having completed my 4th or 5th number on best selling book. Also, my Undiscovered Treasures Ministries established as a worldwide ministry of encouragement and inspiration to Kingdom singles.

5. What trials has God brought you through and how do you feel you can help single adults facing these same trials today?

God has brought me through too many situations to mention in this setting. Probably the most difficult situation to date is being diagnosed with a debilitating muscle disease in 2000. I lost a lot of things, my job, my vehicle, the ability to provide for myself financially and more importantly the ability to care for myself and my independence. The story is too detailed to lay out right now, but God has walked with me through every single moment and aspect of this life changing segment of my life. I lost a lot of things but I what I gained in the interim far outweighs the losses. The book Undiscovered Treasures; God's Take On Multicultural Relationships can out of walking through the disability as did a greater love and appreciation for the Father.

6. What inspired you to write on relationships and dating issues to young single adults?

The inspiration initially came from the heart of the Father for His kingdom singles. A lot of my inspiration comes from years of seeing my friends in the church pining away and living half a life waiting for a mate to come along, or leaving the church all together to "find" somebody they could marry and hopefully, bring back into church with them. Also, those who have been waiting so long it almost seems like an impossible dream or those who married and now are no longer together. There has to be reasons and solutions for each of these situations and I believe Undiscovered Treasures provides thought provoking answers for God's kingdom singles everywhere.
