Interview with Bree Noble

Interview with Embracing the Rain:

Can you give us a brief background on you and your music?

I’ve been singing since age 3 and piano lesson at age 6, but performed a solo in my first musical at church at age 8-you know, Psalty Praise.  In 7th grade I played the “Teen Angel” in Greece and performed “Beautiful School Dropout”.  I really got heavily into singing in high school when I was in 4 performing ensembles including a women’s barbershop quartet.  I attended Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA and earned degrees in Vocal Performance and Business.  Since graduation, I have written and recorded 3 albums: my first Christian Contemporary album "Overwhelmed" in 2002, an album of love songs and spiritual songs from the musical "Little Italian Girl" called "Can You See The Stars", and my latest album "Healing Waters" released in 2006.  "Healing Waters" has generated stellar sales and reviews from sites like ChristianMusic.Suite101.com, Depot-Radio.com and Channel Z’s “The Zeph Report”.  In July 2006 I was honored to perform the national anthem in front of 56,000 people at Dodger Stadium.  In January 2007, Bree Noble was named Best Female Performer at the Inland Empire Music Awards in Southern California

Your words and music are powerful what kind of response have you had to your CD?

I've had a fantastic response, especially at my concerts.  I am always encouraged by the number of people who come visit my merchant table and buy a CD because that means the songs spoke to them and usually they also buy a CD to share with a friend.  It's wonderful that the messaged God gave me are being heard and touching people.  People who come talk to me after the concerts mention specific songs that they identified with, most often "Healing Waters", "You Are My Vision" and "I Trusted You".  One song that's very special to me is “Why Can’t I Go Home” which was based on a poem written by my aunt Carol Park about my Grandmother’s battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.  It is so touching to listen to and even more powerful to perform on stage.  At ever performance (almost without fail) even in the smallest coffee shop I get someone coming up to me telling me how the lyrics touched them because they have dealt with the disease with a family member.

Do you plan on coming out with another CD in the near future?

I'm thinking my next CD will be a Christmas CD.  I'm hoping this will be this year or next year.  I'm always writing new music for my next Contemporary album as well which will probably be in another 2 years.

In the music industry it is mostly about making money. You have amazing talent and could easy cross over into the secular world of music, how do you resist that temptation?

I believe all the success I've had so far is only because it's God's will.  I really believe He has called me to deliver His message through music.  I am not against performing secular music, but I will never give up my music ministry calling.

What is your favorite scripture and why?

My favorite scripture is "Trust God always, and don't depend on your own understanding, and He will lead you in the right direction."  When I learned to trust God completely and give up control of my music career to God, amazing things started happening.

Do you have any other ministry work that you do or support?

I also have a speaking presentation that includes music called "You Are My Vision".  I talk about growing up legally blind and how I overcame my adversity with God's help.  It is just another illustration of how trusting God and giving up control to Him can change your life and perspective.  I speak to moms groups, women's groups, community groups, churches and am a speaker for Stonecroft Ministries.

What do you think is the greatest issue facing young Christians in today’s world?

I think it's easy for us all to become complacent, especially when things come easy.  As people get older their faith is often tested, but young people usually haven't faced a crisis of faith yet.  I think young Christians are naive and uninformed about what having "true" faith means and the sacrifices they may have to make later in life for their faith.  They also have no idea to great rewards that await them.

Do you have any other testimony or other words that you would like to share with our readers?

Find your niche.  Everyone has a talent.  It may not be what you think everyone wants or expects.  I know some visually impaired people who are fantastic radio personalities, writers and musicians.  Without seeing them in person, I had no idea they were impaired in any way.  There was a man I worked with on musical collaboration over the Internet who was quite talented.  I collaborated with him for 6 months before I met him. When I did, I was shocked to find that he was paralyzed from the neck down!  He was doing all his composing using speech software.  After meeting him, I will never underestimate anyone’s talent again.  If you have the desire, you can find the equipment, aids and personnel to make it happen.   If you let Him, God will find a way to use you.
